Watching you sleep

June 28, 2023

The thin veil
Between your eyes
And mine,
Broken by the flutter
Of a single butterfly.

The shallow river
Between your heart
And mine,
Bubbling on a quiet
Summer night.

The warm place
Between your skin
And mine,
Shifting between sighs
And tender hands.

Who knew
Darkness by your side
Could feel so bright?
