Perfection

The crystal was evidently flawed. Unlike its perfect golden siblings, it had a crack running and twisting down its very center.

He knew he should have taken it out of the growing vat as soon as he noticed the first hairlines appear in the seedling… but for some strange reason he couldn’t understand himself, he never did. And now it was too late.

The harvest season was around the corner. He knew the masters would not be pleased, but the sweet voice singing in his heart told him that it really didn’t matter.
