7 – Driftwood

The boat rocked gently with the tide. She took a swig from the cold beer and checked the dials on the panel. Ninety-two point six, eighty-three point four… she meticulously noted all the readings in the log.

6 – Light

He could see light glowing on the horizon. How long had he been walking towards it? He wasn’t sure. There was no day or night here, no way to count the passing of the days… or years. There was nothing but darkness and the light on the horizon.

5 – Breeze

The stars were beautiful, they shone so brightly. He had never seen them with such clarity. Their sheer beauty almost made him forget that they were shining at him thru a huge gash in the hull.

4 – Inside

With a cry, the little girl swiftly hides behind her mother, only one of her wide eyes and a bit of ruffled bangs peeking from behind the mortified woman.

1 – Rain

The sound was soft and soothing in her ears, it almost made her wish she could sleep in a little while. She couldn’t remember the last time she had woken to the sound of… RAIN!?

-1 – Sea mist

The tide crashed against the jagged edges of the rock, showering him in a fine, salty mist. There were clouds in the horizon, but neither numerous nor big enough to block the last shimmer of the setting sun in the distance.

-2 – White memories

He remembered that day so clearly. The moment he left her side for a brief instant to bring her a cup of tea from the hot stove. He came back to find her dead on her bed, her eyes still fixed on the window as if she wanted to watch the falling snow for all eternity. The sweetness of her last smile was forever etched within his memory.
