526 – Sting
A single shot
Of liquid bronze
Slides smoothly
Down my throat.
The subtle fire
In my belly
Brings comfort
From the cold.
As I slowly reload
The empty glass
The smoky scent of bourbon
Fills my soul.
Life’s not
An easy ride
Gliding down
A sweet paved road.
Life purrs, and growls.
Life will cuddle in your arms
Before biting off your heart,
And blowing you a kiss.
Raindrops chase each other
Down my window.
Shots of bourbon chase each other
Down the jigsaw of my scars.
Sweet poison
From a nasty sting.
I wouldn’t want it
Any other way.
