295 – Never stop

A rough climb,
A slip, a fall.
A few cuts and bruises.
Just keep running,
Never stop

A lonely road,
No shade, high sun.
Save your pace and water.
Just keep running,
Never stop.

Countless miles,
Heavy legs, aching joints.
Shut out pain, you’re almost there.
Just keep running,
Never stop.

Cheers and laughter,
Some water and food.
Dirty, weary smiles.
The line is crossed,
The race is run.

Awed faces asking…
How can you do it?
You must be brave, or mad,
Or both.

I’m neither.

It doesn’t take courage,
Just a taste of profound joy,
To just keep running,
Never stop.
