196 – Edge

It was sweet
And soothing,
A siren-song lullaby.

The notes
Dripped gently
Into your mind,
Like a thread
Of warm and sweet
Poisoned honey.

No guilt
Or regret
Was even insinuated
In the wordless
Song of raw
Temptation.

Just let go,
No need to worry,
Everything will be alright.
And if it’s not,
You’ll die too fast
To even notice.

A small
Step back,
Away from
The thin edge.
A firm hand
Gripping
Sanity.

Tempted?
Yes…

But still not ready
To surrender.
