119 – Gone
The cracks were small
But they hurt the same.
A whole life fishing
For appreciation
Had finally taken
Its toll.
Years over years
Of good behavior
With nothing to show
But a broken heart
And a crumbling cocoon
Of restraint.
The rumbling sound
Of a v-twin engine
Cut thru the pain
Of the last falling pieces
Like a white-hot knife.
Heaven had been
A long, boring nightmare.
He was finally ready
For hell.
